To build up a church that is influential in the community, to equip Christ’s disciples, and to fulfil the Great Commission.
Go to the end of the earth and to build the church of Jesus christ.
Knowing Fuk Lam
The Story behind “Jesus in Temple Street”
While on an evangelistic outing in Yaumatei in 1986, Rev. Lai Chun Moon saw the vices there and recalled Luke 19:41, “Now as He drew near [Jerusalem], He saw the city and wept over it”. Thus Fuk Lam Church was set up, and the congregation, acting on behalf of Christ, reach out to the poor in service, loving care and leading them to the Lord.
Mission Statement
“To build up a church that is influential in the community, to equip Christ’s disciples, and to fulfil the Great Commission.”
Three big directions:
To build up a church that is influential in the community (Luke 19:41, Luke 4:18-19)
In the spirit of “Jesus in Temple Street”*, build up a local church, serve the weak, and win over the community.
To equip Christ’s disciples (Matt. 28:19)
In accordance with the biblical truth, edify, shepherd and build up the lives of the disciples.
To fulfil the Great Commission (Acts1:8)
Through sending out disciples, plant churches locally and abroad.

What WE Do
01.
— Sending rice boxes
The Rice Distribution Ministry was established in 1996, initiated by students of the second cohort of the Hong Kong Cell Group Network Ministry Training College, including the current director, Pastor Au Kam Chun, who was one of the founders! To date, it has distributed over 50,000 rice boxes.
02.
— Caring elders
Every Thursday morning, there is a “Senior Soldiers” gathering, aimed at honoring the elderly, protecting them, and awakening their potential. We do not believe in depending on others in old age, but rather in serving as senior soldiers of the kingdom, continuing to contribute to both society and God’s kingdom.
03.
— Helping Poor
Yau Ma Tei is a community where many impoverished households are hidden. Over the past thirty years, we have served and assisted the poor, from subdivided flat residents to new immigrants, without stopping. I have served and shared the gospel with over two thousand impoverished households to date.
04.
— Developing Child
We primarily offer homework tutoring services and summer activities to help children grow and develop in an environment that values their body, mind, and spirit. Holistic health and growth are the core principles driving our love and care for children.
05.
— Reaching Losts
Founding Pastor Rev. Dr. Samuel, Lai Chun Moon is a pastor with an extraordinary gift for evangelism. We have inherited his vision, actively engaging in community service and offering diverse forms of outreach, all with the aim of advancing the gospel and turning “Jesus in Temple Street” from a slogan into action.
06.
— Discipling disciples
The Great Commission instructs us to make disciples of all nations for Jesus. The core qualities of a disciple—faith, passion, mercy and relationships—are integrated into Fuk Lam’s core values, ensuring we fulfill our mission statement: “Equipping disciple lives to carry out the Great Commission of Christ!”
Life Stories
I have been to drug rehabilitation centers five times and served three prison sentences, yet Jesus still loves me, a sinner!
~ Rev. Dr. Samuel Lai
In 1986, Rev. Dr. Samuel Lai went to Yau Ma Tei for evangelism and saw sin rampant everywhere. He received a scripture from God: “As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it” (Luke 19:41). This led to the establishment of our church. The church also represents Jesus in caring for and serving the poor, leading them to Christ.
